Out of the Life Room is a small exhibition by some of the members of the Bristol Life Drawing Group to celebrate it’s 15th anniversary. It contains a mixture of life work and work that it’s creator feels has been inspired or helped in some way by time spent drawing the human form.
Often described as a Bristol institution the class, which meets on Monday evenings at the Brunel Field Building and Thursday evenings at Bristol Grammar school in Clifton is a vibrant mixture of all levels and abilities that over the years has included members of the RWA, students, college graduates and animators. All are united by a love of drawing, For some it’s a learning tool,a way of honing ones ability to look at the world and get that information down on paper as quickly as possible. For others its a way of familiarising oneself with the human body that then leads on to other forms of figurative art. For some the life room is a starting point, a spark of inspiration that leads to a form of painting both figurative and abstract.
I regret that it isn’t possible to include more examples of work by group members but if you’re interested in finding more about the class please remember to visit the life drawing class blog www.bristollifedrawing.wordpress.com
